Oralia Lozano Williams passed away on March 17, 2010 in McAllen, Texas.

She was born on March 8, 1928 in Tampico, Tamaulipas, Mexico. Oralia spent her childhood in Laredo and San Ygnacio, Texas. She graduated in 1947 from San Benito High School. Oralia attended Our Lady of The Lake University in San Antonio, Texas and married the late Frank Williams Jr. of Brownsville, on April 8, 1951.

Oralia continued her education at the former Pan American University in Edinburg, where she received her Bachelors degree in Education. Oralia became a school teacher in Brownsville, Texas where she taught at many elementary schools throughout her 35 years of teaching.

Oralia was a dedicated teacher, spending many hours helping her students to succeed. While raising four children after her husbands death, Oralia acquired her Masters Degree at the former Texas AI University at Kingsville, to teach children with learning disabilities.

In her high school annual, Oralia wrote that her life dream was to travel the world. And she did. Many will remember her wonderful stories of her travels to Europe, Russia, Mexico, and Canada. Oralia was also involved with the Mr. Amigo Association in Brownsville for many years.

Oralia will always be remembered for her love of teaching, her adventurous spirit, and her talent for telling humorous stories of her life experiences. She will be forever loved and missed by her family and friends.

Oralia was preceded in death by her husband, Frank Williams Jr. her youngest son, Edward Williams,her mother, Virginia Gutierrez Lozano her father, Conrado Lozano and three brothers, Conrado M. Lozano, Carlos Lozano, and Oscar Lozano.

She is survived by her three children: Frank Karen Williams III, of Palmhurst, TX, Patricia Ann Guillermo Williams, of Washington, D.C., and Denise Robert Williams Austin, of Kingwood, TX her grandchildren: Capt. Austin Patrick Mika Maples, Capt. Cameron Darden Capt. Lindsay Maples, Shelby Williams, Ally and Selena Austin and her greatgrandson, Hunter Darden Maples. She is also survived by her sisters, Yolanda Dr. Raul Garza of San Benito and Sylvia Ret. Gen. Richard Trzaskoma of Austin, TX. and numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation will begin at 5 p.m. Friday, March 19, 2010 and continue through 9 p.m. with the recitation of the holy rosary at 7 p.m. Friday evening in the East Chapel of DarlingMouser Funeral Home. We ask that everyone meet at Immaculate Conception Cathedral for the Mass of Christian Resurrection which will be at 3 p.m. on Saturday, March 20, 2010. All services will conclude after the Mass and in accordance with Oralias wishes cremation will follow.

Dr. Carlos A. Lozano of San Antonio, Raul Conrado Lozano of McAllen, Dr. Raul Garza III of Harlingen, Robert Austin of Kingwood, and Rene and Remi Garza of San Benito are honored to be serving as Oralias pallbearers.

Honorary pallbearers will be: Dr. Raul Garza Jr., Ret. Gen. Richard Trzaskoma, Oscar Lozano Jr., Capt. Austin P. Maples, Capt. Cameron D. Maples, Ret. Lt. Col. William Maples, and all her nieces and nephews from both the Lozano and Williams families.

In lieu of flowers, Oralias family requests that memorial gifts in her name be made to the Oralia Lozano Williams Scholarship Fund in care of the UTBTSC Development Office, 80 Fort Brown, Brownsville, Texas 78520.
