Oscar La Mantequilla E. Garcia is now flying with Angels walking hand in hand with our Lord. He was born on February 27, 1927 and flew away at the age of 82 years on July 2, 2009 at his home surrounded by his loving family.

He served with the US Army and fought during the World War II era, while serving he held the rank of PFC with the Military Police Battalion and as an Infantry Rifleman. Oscar Garcia was decorated with the Army of Occupation Ribbon Germany Victory Ribbon and ASR Lapel Button issued with the utmost honor. He served with his brothers in arms proudly and defended his country with valor.

He retired after 35 years as a supervisor from Gulf Side Compress of the Port of Brownsville. His favorite sport was boxing, thus his nick name La Mantequilla.

He is preceded in death by his parents Lucia Exciia and Ismael Garcia, by his first wife Marta P. Garcia, his son Oscar E. Garcia, Jr., his sisters Carolina Hernandez and Licha Castro, his brothers Tony Garcia and Chema Garcia.

Left to eternally cherish his memory is his wife Eva S. Garcia, his children Gracie G. Luis G. Aguilar, Josie G. Alfred Rosales, Marta G. Gilbert DeLeon, George L. Adelita D. Garcia, daughter-in-law Maria Luisa Garcia. His grandchildren Marisa Y. Rogelio Casados, Jr., Gabriel Aguilar, Omar J. Rosales, Erika L. Edmundo Mejia Rosales, Gina N. Roger Ruiz, Monica Y. Michael Murdock Rivera, Roman L. Rivera, Joseph J. Alicia Garcia DeLeon, Steve Garcia, Lisa Marie Hector Barragan Garcia, Marta M. Garcia, Adelina J. Arturo Rios, George L. Garcia. His great grandchildren Patrick D. Casados, Jonathan M. Casados, Aisha Y. Casados, Chloe S. Casados, Chantelle T. Casados, Kyra K. Casados, Madisyn H. Ruiz, Oscar I. Garcia, Isis A. Barragan, Mateo M. F. Garcia, Malaki O. M. Garcia, Dominick A. Rios. His brother Roberto Garcia and Sisters Olga Rodriguez, Ofelia Rendon, Otila Garcia, and numerous nephews and nieces.

Pallbearers will be George Lee Garcia, Gabriel Aguilar, Omar Jason Rosales, Roman Lee Rivera, Steve Garcia, Victor Daniel Hernandez, Luis Alberto Hernandez and Arturo Rios.

Honorary Pallbearers are Oscar E. Garcia, Jr., Roger Ruiz, Joseph J. DeLeon, Gerardo Sanchez, Luis G. Aguilar, Alfred Rosales, Gilbert DeLeon, Francisco J. Hernandez and Sergio E. Hernandez.

Visitation will be held 12 noon to 9 p.m., Sunday, July 5, 2009 with a recitation of the Holy Rosary at 7p.m., in the East Chapel of Darling-Mouser.

Mass will be held at 10a.m., Monday July 6, 2009 at Immaculate Conception Cathedral, 1218 E. Jefferson St., Brownsville, Tx 78520, committal will follow at Buena Vista Burial Park, 5 McDavitt, Brownsville, Tx 78521.

Full Military Honors will be conducted by American Legion Post 43 Honor Guard under the direction of Commander R. Leal.
