BROWNSVILLE, TX. – Pablo M. Coronado passed into our Lord’s heavenly kingdom on Friday the 25th of February 2022 while being treated at Valley Regional Medical Center in Brownsville.
Pablo was born in Brownsville, Texas on January 15, 1937, son of Felipe and Eulalia Coronado. He attended and graduated from Brownsville High School, and later went on to Texas Southmost College, and San Marcos University. As a young man, Pablo served our nation in the United States Army and was stationed in Germany during the Berlin Crisis. After returning home from his tour, Pablo married his sweetheart Gloria Flores and together they raised a wonderful and loving family of six. He worked for several years at Aldridge Washman as an appliance and A/C repairman. After college, Pablo worked for the Brownsville Independent School District as an instructor for the A/C and Refrigeration Program at Gladys Porter High School. After his retirement from BISD, he continued on as an instructor with The University of Texas at Brownsville for an additional ten years. Pablo was also an author, publishing his book titled "A Time to Remember: Letters Home” in November 2013 which details the letters he wrote to Gloria while he was in the military.
He enjoyed family outings to the beach, day trips to South Padre Island, and deer hunting occasionally. He excelled as a teacher, mechanical problem solver, and a carpenter. One of his other favorite pastimes involved crafting wooden airplane models of WWII Era aircrafts. Pablo was a member of The American Legion Post 43 of Brownsville where he also served on the Honor Guard. He will be greatly missed by his wife, family, friends, and students but his memory will live forever in our hearts.
He is survived by his wife of sixty-one years, Gloria Flores; their sons Danny (Margaret), Pablo Jr., Robert (Yvonne), and David James; daughter, Norma (Jerry); and his only surviving sibling, Conception “Conchi” Sanchez. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Terrie Coronado Lerma (Fred); his parents, Felipe and Eulalia Coronado; and by his brothers and sisters Julio Coronado, Juan Coronado, Guadalupe Guerra, Cira Coronado, Dora Coronado, and Refugia “Cookie” Coronado.
