Pedro C. Gonzalez, 98, passed away Sunday, September 20, 2009 at Valley Baptist Medical Center in Brownsville. He was born on December 2, 1910, in San Fernando, Tamaulipas, Mexico. He immigrated to the United States at the age of seven months. He retired as a foreman for Zepeda Farms of El Ranchito in 1981. One of the proudest moments of his life was when he became a U.S Citizen.
Pedro was preceded in death by his parents, Prajedes and Guadalupe, his wife, Amparo R. Gonzalez, a son, Guadalupe Gonzalez, a son-in-law, Joe K. Hendley, and his siblings, Rita Gonzalez, Rosa Balli and Prajedes Gonzalez, Jr. He is survived by his children, Dora Tony Mireles, Viola Jesus Sanchez, Pedro Hilda Gonzalez, Jr., Corina Hendley Paul Baerg, Rachel Rafael Elizondo and Roberto; 8 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren.
Visitation will begin at 3p.m., Tuesday, September 22, 2009 with the recitation of the holy rosary to be held at 7p.m., in the East Chapel of Darling-Mouser Funeral Home. Mass of Resurrection will be held at 2p.m., Wednesday, September 23, at St. Luke Catholic Church with burial to follow at Buena Vista Burial Park.
Serving as pallbearers will be Ralph Elizondo, Roger Ortiz, Larry Brown, Paul Baerg, Michael Mireles, Joey Garza and Gorlyn Hagerbaumer.
Honorary pallbearers will be Pete Roberto Gonzalez, Jesus Sanchez, Tony Mireles, Gloria G. Martinez.
The family would like to extend their deepest appreciation to the staff of VBMC Valley Grande Manor Nursing Home for the care provided to their father during the last remaining days of his life.
