Penelope Lynd Bridger, 69, entered into eternal rest on Thursday, May 17, 2012, at Sunshine Haven Hospice Facility in Olmito, Texas after a valiant battle with cancer.
Penny, as she was affectionately known to al, was born in Alice, Texas, but had been a resident of Brownsville since 1967. She worked in the banking industry for a number of years, and after retirement, she went to work for the Camille Lightner Playhouse as their office manager.
Penny was a friend to all, from the very young to the young at heart. Pennys kindness, cheerfulness, and vitality made an impact on the lives of many. Penny was deeply loved and will be profoundly missed by all those fortunate to have known her.
Penny was preceded in death by her parents, Billy and Martha Lynd.
Penny is survived by her daughters, Laura WoodSmith and her husband Steve and Janna Arney and her husband Doug the grandchildren who were her pride and joy: Jayson McGehee, Nicole Graham, Dylan Graham, Jakob Arney, Joey Arney, and Ben Arney a brother, Mark Lynd and his wife Emmagene two nieces her pet Bichon Frise Coco and other extended family members as well as many friends.
In accordance with Pennys wishes, she was cremated. A memorial service celebrating her life will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, May 19, 2012 at the Church of the Advent Episcopal, 104 West Elizabeth Street. There will be a reception following the service in the Henri DeStefano Room at the Camille Lightner Playhouse, 1 Dean Porter Park. The family requests that you bring any pictures of special memories including Penny that youd like to share with them to the reception.
