BROWNSVILLE, TX. – With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Perfecto García Pedraza, who peacefully passed away on Monday, the 10th of March 2025, at the age of 84, in Brownsville, Texas. Born on December 20, 1940, in Brownsville, he spent his life in the city he loved, surrounded by family, friends, and a deep sense of community.
Perfecto was a proud graduate of Brownsville High School, Class of 1960. He went on to earn his degrees from The University of Texas in 1964 and 1967, later becoming a licensed pharmacist that same year. Over his long and dedicated career, he worked at Kroger, Gibson, and Walmart, eventually retiring from the Brownsville Community Health Center, where his passion for serving others never wavered.
Beyond his professional life, Perfecto was a man of many interests. He had a deep appreciation for genealogy, photography, music, and reading. He always pursued knowledge and enthusiastically embraced his hobbies.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Josefina Vargas García, and by his parents, Perfecto García Garza and Guadalupe Pedraza García. He is survived by his devoted daughter, Bernardina García-Vargas, and his beloved granddaughter, Andrea Lucía Olvera, who will forever carry his memory in their hearts.
Though Perfecto is no longer with us, his kindness, wisdom, and dedication to family and community will never be forgotten. Rest in peace, Perfecto. Your legacy of love and service lives on.
Visiting hours will be held on Monday, the 17th of March 2025 between the hours of three o’clock in the afternoon and eight o'clock at night, with the recitation of the holy rosary to begin at six o'clock Monday evening within the East Chapel of Darling-Mouser Funeral Home.
The Funeral Mass will be celebrated at nine o'clock in the morning on Tuesday, the 18th of March 2025 at the historic Immaculate Conception Cathedral, 1218 E. Jefferson Street, Brownsville. Interment will then follow, via an escorted procession, at Buena Vista Burial Park, 5 McDavitt Boulevard, Brownsville.
