Petra "Pete" Hernandez Flores

Petra H. Flores, 83, beloved companion, sister, mother, motherinlaw, grandmother, greatgrandmother, aunt, and friend entered into the glory of her eternal life on Friday, July 27, 2012 at Valley Baptist Medical Center in Harlingen with her family at her side.

Petra was a native and lifetime resident of Brownsville. After obtaining her Bachelors Degree in Business she worked as an accountant throughout her career. Petra was a very active and independent woman and remained that way up until her passing.

Petra was a devoted mother and grandmother who gave her all for her family. Her favorite pastimes were spending time with her flowers and plants in her garden and going dancing. She was a longtime parishioner at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church. Petra was deeply loved and will be profoundly missed by all those fortunate to have known her.

Petra was preceded in death by her parents, Eutimio and Petra Hernandez two sisters, Ophelia Haywood and Mary Hill and three brothers, Eutimio, Efrain, and Emilio Hernandez.

Left behind to eternally treasure their memories of her are her siblings: Ernie Evelyn Hernandez, Eddie Josie Hernandez, and Virginia Jesse Clive her longtime companion, Rigoberto Flores her children: Lydia Charles Flores, Gloria Esther Jerry Langham, Lorenzo Alberto Hermila Flores, Norma Linda Flores, Robert Louis Perla Flores, and Laura Jean Flores seven grandchildren, four greatgrandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation will begin at 12 Noon on Sunday, July 29, 2012 with the recitation of the holy rosary service scheduled to begin at 7 p.m. Sunday evening in the East Chapel at DarlingMouser Funeral Home. Visitation will resume at 10 a.m. on Monday, July 30, 2012 with the funeral Mass scheduled for 1:00 .m. Monday afternoon at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church, 1200 Lincoln St. Interment will follow at Rose Lawn Memorial Gardens.
