Rafael "El Viking" Garza Iii

Rafael El Viking Garza III, 57, beloved, son, husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and uncle entered into the glory of his eternal life on Thursday, July 24, 2008 at his residence surrounded by his loving family.

He was preceded in death by his father Rafael Garza, Jr., his maternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Guadalupe Rocha and his paternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Rafael Garza Sr.

Left behind to eternally treasure his memory is his wife Esmeralda Torres Garza; his children: Ana Liza Garza, Rafael IV and his wife Sylvia, Selina and her husband Fernando Moreno, and Nivia and her husband Manuel Zapata; his step-children, Jennifer and Juan Mojeda; his mother, Maria R. Garza; his sisters, Lydia and her husband Jose Vasquez, Rosalinda and her husband Juan Muoz, and Anna and her husband Rudy Garza; his brothers, Reymundo and his wife Orlanda Garza, Reynaldo Garza, and Roberto and his wife Felipa Ruiz. He will also be deeply missed by his 9 grandchildren, his great-granddaughter, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation will begin at 10 a.m. Sunday, July 27, 2008 and continue through 9 p.m. this evening in the West Chapel at Darling-Mouser Funeral Home. The recitation of the holy rosary will be at 7 p.m. this evening at Darling-Mouser. The Mass of Christian Resurrection will be at 2 p.m. on Monday, July 28, 2008 at Our Lady of Good Counsel Catholic Church, 1055 Military Highway. Interment will follow at Villa Nueva Cemetery. Daniel Muoz, Juan Muoz, Juan Muoz Jr., Eduardo Torres III, Jaime Vasquez, and Roger Vasquez are honored to be serving as Rafaels pallbearers.

The family would like to express their most sincere gratitude to Sandi Jo Funk Hospice and especially to his nurse Charlene.
