Mr. Ramiro Cardenas Sr., 85, our beloved father, grandfather, greatgrandfather, brother, uncle, and friend entered into the glory of his eternal life on Thursday, February 7, 2013, at Valley Regional Medical Center in Brownsville, TX surrounded by his loving family.
Ramiro, a native of Matamoros, Tamps., Mexico, had been a resident of Brownsville for forty years. An auto mechanic by trade, he owned and operated Cardenas Mechanics throughout his working years. In his spare time, he raised all kinds of farm animals, but his true passion was in raising horses and fighting roosters.
Ramiro was a loving and devoted husband, father, and grandfather who enjoyed spending time with his family especially his grandchildren. He loved to sing and read poetry. Ramiro was a very positive man who had a very outgoing personality. Ramiro was deeply loved and will be profoundly missed by all those fortunate to have known him.
Ramiro was preceded in death by his wife, Olga M. Cardenas an infant son, Jose Cardenas his parents three sisters and three brothers.
Left behind to eternally treasure their memories of him are his beloved children: Esperanza C. Felipe Garcia, Olga John Getz, and Ramiro Patricia Cardenas the six grandchildren that were the apple of his eye: Jorge Felipe Cynthia Garcia, Natalie Esperanza Rick Saucedo, Jorge Lucy Becerra III, Mayra Patricia fianc Manuel Bernal, Roberto Carlos Becerra, and Ramiro Cardenas III two greatgrandchildren, Jorge Miguel Becerra and Alexa Loren Saucedo a brother, Benito Cardenas and numerous nieces, nephews, and other extended family members.
Visitation will begin at 12:00 p.m. on Friday, February 8, 2013, and continue through 9:00 p.m. with the recitation of the holy rosary scheduled for 7 p.m. in the evening in the East Chapel at DarlingMouser Funeral Home. Visitation will resume at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, February 9, 2013, with the Funeral Mass scheduled for 3:00 p.m. at St. Josephs Catholic Church 555West St. Francis St. Committal services will follow at Rose Lawn Memorial Gardens.
Ramiros grandsons are honored to be serving as pallbearers for their beloved grandfather.
