Raul Gutierrez, 85, beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and brother entered into the glory of his eternal life on Friday, October 10, 2008 at Spanish Meadows Nursing Home in Brownsville.
A native of Port Isabel, Mr. Gutierrez had been a resident of Brownsville for many years. He served his country proudly in the U.S. Navy during World War II and was a member of the Disabled American Veterans. He worked at Four Winds Boat Parts located at the Shrimp Basin for 30 years. He was a member of Christ the King Catholic Church.
Mr. Gutierrez was preceded in death by his parents, Jose and Maria Gutierrez, two sons, Jose and David Gutierrez, and a brother Jose Gutierrez.
Left behind to eternally treasure his memory are his wife, Martha L. Gutierrez; his sons: Raul Gutierrez Jr., Armando Maria Guadalupe Gutierrez, Danny Yolanda Gutierrez, and Luis Diana Gutierrez; his daughters, Martha G. Salinas and Linda Rafael Garza; his sister, Carmen Rafta, a brother, Israel Sandy Gutierrez; 29 grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation will begin at 3 p.m. on Monday, October 13, 2008 and continue through 9 p.m. The recitation of the holy rosary will be at 7 p.m. Monday evening in the East Chapel of Darling-Mouser. The Mass of Christian Resurrection is tentatively scheduled for 10 a.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 14, 2008 at Christ the King Catholic Church. Interment will follow at Rose Lawn Memorial Gardens. Family members are honored to be serving as Rauls pallbearers. Military honors will be provided at the graveside under the direction of the Commander Luis Lucio and the Veterans of Foreign Wars.
