Rena Mae Duval Drash, entered into eternal rest July 15, 2009 at Sunshine Haven in Olmito, Texas. Rena was born August 26, 1925, in Morgan City, Louisiana. She had been a Brownsville resident since 1949.
Rena served the Lord as a member of the Catholic Daughters and as a Eucharistic Minister at St. Joseph Catholic Church. Her most important role in life was that of mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Caring for three generations of children in her family was her lifes reward.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Chester J. Drash, Sr., her parents, Percy and Maude Duval, two brothers, Calvin Joseph and Huey Duval, and a sister, Mercedes Delaune Fabre.
Rena is survived by her three sons and one daughter, Ronald M. Drash of Brownsville, Chester Jill Drash, Jr. of San Antonio, James A. Rosie Drash and Cassandra Robert Maza both of Brownsville. She is also survived by her seven beloved grandchildren, Andrew Amanda Drash, Samantha Drash, Kelli Chris Nungesser, Amanda Drash , Nicolas Maza, Collette Maza and Alanna Maza, two great-grandsons, Marco and Kaden, four sisters, Dora Marcel, Geraldine Broussard, Dolores Robicheaux and Diane Estay and a brother, Murray Duval.
Visitation will begin on Friday, July 17, 2009 at 2p.m., with the recitation of the holy rosary to be held at 7p.m., in the Chapel of Darling-Mouser. Mass of Resurrection will be held at 10a.m., Saturday, July 18, at St. Lukes Catholic Church with entombment to follow at Buena Vista Burial Park. Honored to be serving as Mrs. Drashs pallbearers are Andrew Drash, Chris Nungesser, Nicolas Maza, Jerry Briones, Gilbert Briones and Alex Garza.
