Ricardo A. Arzamendi, 72, our beloved husband, father, brother, grandfather, uncle, and friend entered into the glory of his eternal life on Saturday, June 18, 2011 at Valley Baptist Medical Center surrounded by his loving family.
Born on October 25, 1938, Mr. Arzamendi was a lifetime resident of Brownsville. He was an entrepreneur and owned and operated different automotive businesses. An avid outdoorsman, he loved to go fishing and hunting. He was also blessed with a wonderful sense of humor and loved to play pranks on his family and friends.
A devout Catholic, he was a parishioner at St. Josephs Catholic Church. He attended the Noon Mass daily at Immaculate Conception Cathedral. As a young boy he proudly served as an altar boy at St. Thomas Catholic Church on Jefferson St.
Ricardo was deeply loved and will be profoundly missed by all those whose lives he touched.
He was preceded in death by his parents: Francisco B. and Cleotilde Arzamendi and a brother, Francisco B. Arzamendi Jr.
Left behind to eternally treasure their memories of him is his loving wife of 46 years, Maria Ofelia Castro Arzamendi his children: Melissa Ann Albert Avila, Melinda Cecilia Arzamendi, and Regina Marie Jose Humberto Jr. Moreno the grandchildren that were his pride and joy: Matthew Joseph Arredondo, Clarissa Marie Slovak, Alexander William Slovak, Sarah Brianne Avila, Jacob Isaiah Avila, Bianca Elyse Moreno, and Jose Humberto Moreno III. He will also be missed by his sisters, Mary Rose Renato Cardenas and Bertha George Cantu his sisterinlaw, Mary Ann Cleary Arzamendi and numerous nieces, nephews, and other extended family members.
Visitation will begin at 5 p.m. and continue through 9 p.m. in the East Chapel at DarlingMouser Sunday, June 19, 2011 with the recitation of the holy rosary scheduled to begin at 7 p.m. at DarlingMouser. The Funeral Mass will be at 1 p.m. on Monday, June 20, 2011 at St. Josephs Catholic Church, 555 W. St. Francis St. Interment will follow at Buena Vista Burial Park.
Alberto Avila, Jose Humberto Moreno Jr., Rafael Hinojosa, Raul Castro Jr., Rick Cardenas and Rene Cardenas are honored to be serving as pallbearers for Mr. Arzamendi. George Cantu, Renato Cardenas, Harry E. McNair Jr., and Andrew Andy Hagan will serve as honorary pallbearers.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial gifts in Ricardos name be made to the Missionaries of Jesus, co Sr. Ninfa Garza, 1501 W. Adams St., Brownsville, TX 78520.
