Richard Ritchie Garcia, 60, our beloved son, husband, brother, brother-in-law, uncle, nephew, cousin, and friend entered into the glory of his eternal life on Sunday, April 19, 2009 at his residence in Brownsville, surrounded by his loving family.
Ritchie, a native and lifetime resident of Brownsville enjoyed fishing and watching war movies. He was an Army veteran having proudly served his country during the Viet Nam era. He was a jokester who enjoyed nothing more than playing a joke on family and friends. He was a fantastic cook and he loved cooking for his family and friends. He will be dearly missed by all those fortunate to have known him.
Ritchie was preceded in death by his father, Francisco Garcia and a brother, Hesmeregildo Garcia.
Left behind to eternally treasure his memory is his loving and devoted wife: Monica E. Garcia; his beloved mother, Maria Magdalena Garcia; his brother, Frank Sylvia Garcia; and his sisters, Rosemary John Smith and Mary Lou Cantu; along with numerous nieces and nephews and other extended family members.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, April 21, 2009 from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. with the recitation of the holy rosary at 7:00 in the evening in the West Chapel at Darling-Mouser Funeral Home. The Mass of Christian Resurrection will be held at 3:00 p.m., Wednesday, April 22, 2009 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, corner of E. 6th and Elizabeth Streets, in Brownsville. Committal services will follow to Rose Lawn Memorial Gardens. Military honors will be conducted at the graveside by the VFW Post 2035 under the direction of Commander Luis Lucio.
