Robert Lee Dean, 82, beloved brother, partner, and friend entered into eternal rest on Monday, April 5, 2021.

Bob, as he was affectionately known to all, was born in Columbus, Ohio in 1938. After graduating from high school, Bob attended Milligan University in Elizabethton, Tennessee where he received his Bachelor of Arts degree. Bob later studied at Stetson University in DeLand Florida where he received his master’s degree.

Bob was a champion and philanthropist for all Fine Arts programs donating both his time and money to support Fine Arts programs throughout the Valley.

In 1976, he and his lifelong partner, Juan Jose Burgos, moved to Brownsville and opened Bellas Artes Dance Academy which is still in operation.

Bob was deeply loved and will be profoundly missed not only by his family and friends but by all those who were fortunate to have known him.

Bob is survived by his lifelong partner and friend, Juan Jose Burgos; 3 sisters: Jill, Nidia, and Elsie. Bob will also be missed by his nieces and nephews, Mitchell, Ryan, Christopher, Cheriese, Max; and his grandnephews: Joshua, Tommy,  John Paul, Christopher. and Zachary.

In accordance with Bob’s wishes, he was cremated.

A Memorial Funeral Mass to celebrate Bob’s life will be held on Monday, April 26, 2021 at 6:00 p.m. at St. Benedict’s Catholic Church, 351 S. Bowie Street in San Benito, Texas 78586.
