Roberto Edgardo Monroy

Roberto Edgardo Monroy, 54, beloved husband, father, brother, brotherinlaw, uncle, and friend, entered into the glory of his eternal life after a brief illness on Thursday, February 24, 2011 at Valley Regional Medical Center surrounded by his loving family and friends.

Roberto was a native and lifetime resident of Brownsville. He was born on January 18, 1957 to Edmundo Monroy and Graciela Elizondo Monroy who preceded him in death. He worked in the service industry his entire life. He was a loyal and dedicated employee at Stripes for 2 years Whataburger for 4 years and Churchs Chicken for 26 years where was the manager. At the time of his death Roberto was working in the Mens Dept. at Dillards.

Roberto, a devout Christian, was a member of International Christian Center. Family, his relationship with God, and family unity were the most important things in Robertos life. He enjoyed nothing more than spending time with all his family. He will be dearly missed by all those fortunate to have known him.

Left to eternally treasure his memory are his loving wife of 20 years, Nancy E. Monroy his children: Roberto Monroy Jr., Ethel Alejandra Monroy J.J. Leal, Gabriela M. Monroy Juan Morales, and Nancy Eloisa, Ryan E. and Salma E. Monroy. He will also be deeply missed by his brothers and sisters: Edmundo Monroy, Graciela Monroy de Garcia Josue, and Ernesto and Gustavo Monroy 2 sistersinlaw: Magaly Morales de Marroquin Martin, and Sonia Astorga Jose a niece and nephew, Barbara Daniela and David Monroy and many, many friends.

Visitation will begin at 10 a.m, Friday, February 25, 2011 and continue through 9 p.m. with a prayer service at 7 p.m. this evening in the East Chapel at DarlingMouser Funeral Home. Visitation will resume at 9 a.m. on Saturday, Feb. 26th with a Celebration of Life Service at 11 a.m. in the East Chapel at DarlingMouser. All services will conclude after the service and in accordance with Robertos wishes cremation will follow.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Robertos family.
