BROWNSVILLE, TX. - Roberto V. Zavaleta, affectionately known as Sonny, entered into eternal rest on Sunday, the 19th of May 2024 in the comfort of his Brownsville residence with his wife Dora by his side. He was eighty-nine years of age.
Roberto served his country as a member of the United States Air Force and remained a very proud retired veteran all of his life. He was a very humble, wise, generous, forgiving, and lovable person, to name a few of his traits. He blessed many people and will always be remembered for his willingness and his desire to assist all.
Preceding Roberto in death were his parents, Rafael M. Zavaleta and Eloisa V. Zavaleta; his brother, Rafael Zavaleta; and his sister, Rosario Zavaleta Gardner.
Survivors include his wife, Dora E. Zavaleta; his son, Roberto Rafael Zavaleta, Sr. (Lourdes); his daughter, Dora Eloisa Zavaleta Garza (Jacob); his grandchildren, Lourdes Dora Zavaleta and Roberto Rafael Zavaelta, Jr.; Petronila Jauregui, a dear integral member of the Zavaleta family; in addition to numerous extended family members.
Visiting hours will be held on Tuesday, the 28th of May 2024 between the hours of five o’clock in the afternoon and nine o'clock at night, with a prayer service to begin at seven o'clock Tuesday evening within the East Chapel of Darling-Mouser Funeral Home.
A Celebration of Life service will be officiated by Roberto’s nephew, Pastor Denilio Gorena, at nine o’clock in the morning on Wednesday, the 29th of May 2024. Interment with military honors will immediately follow, via an escorted procession, at Buena Vista Burial Park, 5 McDavitt Boulevard, Brownsville.
