BROWNSVILLE, TX. – Rolando Delgado, Ph.D. entered into eternal rest on Saturday, the 22nd of January 2022 at Valley Baptist Medical Center in Harlingen, Texas. He was seventy years of age.
Dr. Delgado graduated from Texas A&M University College Station with his Doctorate of Philosophy in 1984. In 1993, he married his beloved wife Celia Mata. Rolando went on to work in the private sector relocating to California, New Mexico, and later to Dallas and Austin, Texas before retiring. He also owned and directed General Educational Services of Texas in Brownsville. Rolando was devout in his Christian faith and loved his family immensely.
Preceding Dr. Delgado in death were his parents, Ramon and Esther L. Delgado; brothers Beto Delgado, Norberto Delgado, Ramon L. Delgado, and Antonio Delgado; mother-in-law, Eloisa Mata; and sister-in-law, Juanita Linda Cantu.
Survivors include his loving and devoted wife, Celia M. Delgado; sister, Adelina Delgado Barbosa; niece, Diana Michelle Gilman (Chris); father-in-law, Ascension Mata, Sr.; brothers-in-law Ascension Mata, Jr. (Elvia), Vicente Mata (Mary), Lupe Mata (Rosie), and Robert Mata; sister-in-law, Maria Isabel Delgado; as well as numerous extended family members.
Visiting hours will be held on Monday, the 31st of January 2022 between the hours of ten o’clock in the morning and twelve noon, with a Chapel Service to commence at twelve noon within the East Chapel of Darling-Mouser Funeral Home.
Interment will immediately follow at Buena Vista Burial Park, 5 McDavitt Boulevard, Brownsville.
Honored to serve as pallbearers are Humberto Delgado, Rolando Cavazos, Rudy Perez, Christopher Mata, and Daniel Leal.
Honorary pallbearers are Federico Delgado, Jr., Daniel Delgado, Juan M. “Butch” Barbosa, and Bernardo Olvera.
In lieu of floral arrangements and customary remembrances, donations and contributions may be sent in memory of Dr. Delgado to the Trinity Lutheran Church, 901 Boca Chica Boulevard, Brownsville, Texas 78520.
