Roman G. Pineda Jr.

Roman G. Pineda Jr., 91, our beloved father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and uncle entered into the glory of his eternal life on Thursday, May 17, 2018 at Brownsville Nursing and Rehabilitation Center surrounded by his loving family.

Roman, was a native and lifetime resident of Brownsville. Roman was a proud Army veteran who served our country honorably in World War II. After having served our country, Roman returned to Brownsville and began his working career. Roman was a well- known fixture in downtown Brownsville where he worked his entire life with Brownsville Music Co. where he repaired juke boxes and pool tables along side his brother, Gilberto.

In his spare time, Roman enjoyed collecting coins and spending time with family and friends. Roman was deeply loved and will be profoundly missed not only by his family and friends but by all those fortunate enough to have known him.

Roman was preceded in death by his wife, Ninfa Manzano Pineda; his parents, Isadora and Roman Pineda; 3 sisters: Catalina Shull, Isadora Blanchard, and Andrea P. "Pine" Fernandez and 2 brothers: Gilberto G. and Javier G. Pineda.

Left to cherish his memory are his children: Yolanda (Leonardo "Leo") De La Cruz, Reynaldo "Rey" (Anita) Pineda, Diana (Fernando) Massad, Melissa Tamez, and Roman (Rebecca) Pineda III; 18 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandson. Roman will also be missed by his sister, Nina Chandler; his brother, Johnny (Gracie) Pineda Sr. and numerous nieces, nephews, friends, and extended family members.

Visitation will be held from 4:00 to 9:00 p.m. on Sunday, May 20, 2018 in the East Chapel at Darling-Mouser Funeral Home with the recitation of the holy rosary scheduled for 7:00 p.m. Sunday evening. Visitation will resume at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, May 21, 2018. The Funeral Service will be held at 12 Noon on Monday, May 21, 2018, in the East Chapel at Darling-Mouser. The American Legion Funeral Honor Guard will render military honors at the funeral service. All services will conclude after the chapel service on Monday, and in accordance with Roman's wishes, cremation will follow. Private interment of his cremated remains will occur at a later date.
