Mr. Ronald Lee Cawlfield was born in Goodwell, Oklahoma on June 24, 1936 and went to heaven on July 7, 2012 at the age of 76. Today, we rejoice in the knowledge that he is forever at home with the Savior he has faithfully served here on this earth.
Ron was preceded in death by his loving parents, Guy and Daisy Cawlfield. He is survived by his wife, Sarabeth Collins Cawlfield his son, Randy Lydia Cawlfield his daughter, Kimberly Kato Boldon his daughter, Sharon Charles Van Zandt eight grandchildren his brother, Arnold Lois Ann Cawlfield his sisters, Guyula Dunn and Frances Hershel Smith.
Ron graduated from Texas Tech University with a degree in petroleum engineering. After serving in the army, he moved to Brownsville, Texas, in 1962 and worked for Rio Grande Valley Gas Company for 35 years as an engineer. He was a faithful member of First Baptist Church of Brownsville for 50 years where he served quietly in many ways.
Full of wisdom and understanding, he loved his family with a love that comes only from the Lord. With a quiet disposition and a loving heart, he had a laugh that could put a smile on anyones face. Cycling and his grandchildren were some of his favorite pastimes as he grew older. He became very involved with the Brownsville Camp of Gideons International distributing Bibles throughout the community.
The last nine days of his life were spent under the watchful care of the loving staff at Sunshine Haven. The family is so grateful for the love and dignity afforded Ron during his stay.
A memorial service celebrating Rons life and faith will be held on Monday, July 16, 2012, at 5:00 p.m. at Brownsville Community Fellowship Church, 2414 Central Blvd. at the corner of Central and Price. In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made to Sunshine Haven 7105 W. Lakeside Blvd., Olmito, TX 78575 and the Brownsville Camp of Gideons International.
