Rosa "Rosita" Villanueva Cuellar

Rosa V. Cuellar, 95, our beloved mother, grandmother, greatgrandmother, and aunt entered into the glory of her eternal life on Thursday, May 8, 2014, at Valley Regional Medical Center in Brownsville, Texas.

Rosita, as she was affectionately known to all, was a native and lifetime resident of Brownsville. Rosita graduated from Brownsville High School and soon after graduating worked as a teller at several local banks. Rosita then decided to study cosmetology and after obtaining her license owned and operated her own beauty salon for numerous years. A devout Catholic, she was a faithful parishioner of Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church, where she was a lector and often helped in other capacities. Rosita loved to cook, bake, and do crafts.

Rosita had been a resident at Alta Vista Nursing Home for the past six years. While she resided there, she enjoyed joining in and participating in all the activities and outings sponsored by Alta Vista. Rosita helped during religious services and often led her fellow residents in prayer.

Rosita had a long and full life. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend. She will be remembered for her kindness and loving ways. Rosita is already missed by all who loved and were fortunate to have known her. We mourn her passing but believe that Rosita has already met her God.

Rosita was preceded in death by her husband, Martin R. Cuellar a son, Ricardo Cuellar her parents, Maria and Santiago Villanueva and two brothers, Alejandro E. and Santiago E. Villanueva.

Rosita is survived by her children: Martin C. Dolores Lali Cuellar, Caesar M. Gloria G. Cuellar, and Linda Michael Irrgang Cuellar seven grandchildren, twelve greatgrandchildren, and numerous nieces, nephews, and other extended family members.

Visitation will be held today, Sunday, May 11, 2014, from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m. in the East Chapel at DarlingMouser Funeral Home with the recitation of the holy rosary at 7:00 p.m. A Liturgical funeral service will be at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, May 12, 2014, in the East Chapel at DarlingMouser. Committal services will follow at Buena Vista Burial Park.

Rositas family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude and appreciation to the nurses and staff at Alta Vista Nursing Home for the wonderful care they provided for her during the last several years. May God continue to bless you as you minister to others.
