Rosa Maria Rodriguez

BROWNSVILLE, TX. - Rosa Maria Rodriguez entered into eternal rest on Tuesday, the 25th of February 2025 at Valley Regional Medical Center in Brownsville. She was 78 years of age. 

Rosa was born on March 17, 1946 in Veracruz, Mexico, daughter of the late Jesus Diaz and Maura Hernandez Diaz. She graduated from San Benito High School where she ranked 5th in her graduating class and went on to obtain her bachelor's from The University of Texas at Brownsville. Rosa then attended one year of Pharmacy school at the University of Houston in the late 1960s. A devout Catholic, Rosa was an avid parishioner of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Brownsville. She was always very generous and helped others when she saw someone in need. 

Preceding Rosa in death are her parents, Jesus Diaz and Maura Hernandez Diaz, and her brother, Jesus Diaz, Jr.

Survivors include her former husband, Elias Rodriguez; her children, Elias Rodriguez, Jr. and Maria Guadalupe Rodriguez; and her grandchildren Liza Acosta, Nathaniel Gonzalez, Isaac Rodriguez, and Iliana Rodriguez.

Visiting hours will be held on Thursday, the 27th of February 2025 between the hours of five o’clock in the afternoon and nine o'clock at night, with the recitation of the holy rosary to begin at seven o'clock Thursday evening within the East Chapel of Darling-Mouser Funeral Home.

The Funeral Mass will be celebrated at twelve noon on Friday, the 28th of February 2025 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 5455 W. St. Francis Street, Brownsville. Interment will then follow, via an escorted procession, at Rose Lawn Memorial Gardens, 4464 Old Port Isabel Road, Brownsville.
