BROWNSVILLE, TX. – Rosa M. Salinas entered into eternal rest on Monday, the 1st of July 2024 in the comfort of her Brownsville residence surrounded by her loving family.
Rosa Maria Salinas, affectionately known as Rosie, was born in Kingsville, Texas on September 10, 1945, daughter of the late Raul Hernandez and Amparo Rodriguez Hernandez. She was raised in Rio Grande City, Texas, and subsequently spent the majority of her adult life in Brownsville, Texas. In her time here, she took on many roles in life; those of a daughter, a sister, a wife, a mother, an educator and to all a true friend. Simply, she was a beautiful creation of God and will be greatly missed by those whose lives she touched.
Preceding Rosie in death were her parents; her uncle, Arturo Rodriguez; her brother, Raul Hernandez; and her sister, Rosa Maria Rodriguez.
Survivors include her loving daughter, Shiree D. Salinas of former spouse, Lauro R. Salinas; her loving husband, Jesus Fermin Mejia; her siblings Arturo Rodriguez (Linda), Araceli R. Villarreal (Jorge+), LaMar R. De La Cuz (Joe), LaNelle R. Cantu, Edgar Rodriguez (Angie), Luis Jaime Rodriguez, and Sonia R. Garza; her two half-sisters, Annette H. Buitron and Amparo L. Navarro (Fernando); her step-children Jesus Fermin Mejia, Jr. (Beatrice), Alfredo Mejia (Daira), Santiago A. Mejia (Rosa), Elizabeth M. Gonzalez (Ivan); as well as several grandchildren and extended family members.
Visiting hours will be held on Friday, the 5th of July 2024 between the hours of five o'clock in the afternoon and nine o'clock at night, with the recitation of the holy rosary to be recited at seven o'clock Friday evening within the East Chapel of Darling-Mouser Funeral Home.
The Funeral Mass will be celebrated at half past twelve o'clock in the afternoon on Saturday, the 6th of July 2024 at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church, 1200 Lincoln Street, Brownsville. Interment will then follow, via an escorted procession, at Valley Memorial Gardens, 3611 N. Taylor Road, Mission.
