Maria Rosa Hernandez Widick, 59, our beloved mother, grandmother, sister, and aunt entered into the glory of her eternal life on Tuesday, January 22, 2013 at Valley Regional Medical Center in Brownsville surrounded by her loving family.
Rosa was a native and lifetime resident of Brownsville. After receiving her Bachelor of Science Degree from the University of Pan AmericanEdinburg, she began a teaching career with the BISD that would last for thirtyfour years. Rosa was a loyal and dedicated Kindergarten teacher at El Jardin Elementary for her entire career even doing her student teaching there. The hundreds of students that passed through her doors were truly blessed to have her as a teacher. Rosa was totally dedicated to her students her classroom was her life. Rosa received numerous awards and recognition for her dedication to her beloved Longhorns at El Jardin. Even after retirement she never stopped teaching but now she was teaching her beloved grandchildren.
Rosas dedication to her family knew no bounds. She was an amazing mother with a true heart of gold. She instilled in both her daughters her values of honesty, truth, family, love, and forgiveness and they in turn will pass those values on to their children.
Rosa suffered many illnesses during her lifetime but she never questioned Gods will. Her will and hunger for life inspired those around her. Rosa was deeply loved and will be profoundly missed by those fortunate to have known her.
Rosa was preceded in death by her husband, David Warren Widick and her parents, Jose P. and Delia P. Hernandez.
Left behind to eternally treasure their memories of her are her two daughters, Delia Ricardo Ramos and her baby girl, Elizabeth Widick two grandchildren that were her pride and joy: Ricardo Jr. and Isabella Rose Ramos her brothers and sisters: Jose Margarita Hernandez, Luis Armando Beatriz Hernandez, Maria del Rosario Hernandez, Sergio Antonio Olga Hernandez, Marta Guillen, Victor Manuel Flora Hernandez, Maria Guadalupe Arturo Cisneros, Norma Delia Hernandez, and Araceli Ramiro Martinez and numerous nieces, nephews, friends, and other extended family members.
Visitation will begin at 3:00 p.m. today, Thursday, January 24, 2013, with the recitation of the holy rosary scheduled for 7:00 p.m. this evening in the East Chapel at DarlingMouser Funeral Home. The Funeral Mass will be at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, January 25, 2013, at Christ the King Catholic Church, 2255 South most Rd., Brownsville, TX. Committal services will follow at Buena Vista Burial Park. Rosas brothers and sisters are honored to be serving as pallbearers for their beloved sister.
Rosas family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude and appreciation to Dr. Karkoutly, Dr. Anandasivam Fresenius Medical Care North Brownsville, Dr. Gaitan, Nurse Martha, and all the other wonderful nurses that were always at her side and ministered to her throughout her many illnesses. May God Bless all of you as you continue to minister to others.
