Rosalinda C. Valdez

Rosalinda C. Valdez, 69, beloved mother, daughter, sister, motherinlaw, grandmother, greatgrandmother, sisterinlaw, aunt, and friend entered into the glory of her eternal life after a valiant and courageous battle with cancer on Wednesday, October 26, 2011 at her residence in Brownsville surrounded by her loving family.

Rosie was a native and lifetime resident of Brownsville. She and her husband were foster parents to numerous children in Brownsville for 25 years. Rosie was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother who gave her all for her family. Her favorite pastimes were shopping, sewing, crafting, and spending time with family and friends. She was a longtime parishioner at St. Joseph Catholic Church. Rosie was deeply loved and will be profoundly missed by all those fortunate to have known her.

Rosie was preceded in death by her stepfather, Guadalupe Rodriguez her brother, Arnoldo Rodriguez and two sisters: Evangelina R. Garcia and Juanita R. Salinas.

Left behind to eternally treasure their memories of her is her husband of 54 years: Jose V. Valdez her children: Jose Joe Norma Valdez Jr., Lucia Lucy Manuel Martinez, Luis D. Valdez, Elvia Juan Barrientes Perez, and Eric A. Valdez seven grandchildren, two greatgrandchildren, her mother, Florentina C. Rodriguez her brothers and sisters: Maria del Rosario LockabyTokarz, Erasmo Belinda Rodriguez, Ruben Sylvia Rodriguez, Pedro Janie Rodriguez, Diana Luis Morrison, Norma Frank Castillo, Delia Fidencio Mendoza, Oralia Jesse Hernandez, Sylvia Ismael Lopez, and Tila Silverio Vasquez. She will also be missed by her numerous nieces and nephews and other extended family members.

Visitation will begin at 1 p.m. Thursday, October 27, 2011 with the recitation of the holy rosary service scheduled to begin at 7 p.m in the East Chapel at DarlingMouser Funeral Home. The Funeral Mass will be at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, October 28, 2011 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 555 W. St. Francis St. All services will conclude at the church after the Mass, and in accordance with Rosies wishes cremation will follow.
