Ruben Alvarado ,61, our beloved son, husband, father, grandfather, greatgrandfather, brother, uncle, and friend entered into the glory of his eternal life on Wednesday, September 28, 2011 at Audie L. Murphy Veterans Hospital in San Antonio, Texas surrounded by his loving family.
Born on September 10, 1950, Mr. Alvarado was a lifetime resident of Brownsville. A veteran of the United States Army, Ruben served his country proudly during the Vietnam War, earning a Purple Heart.
In 1983, he founded his own business, A B Electric. He later partnered with his son, Ruben Jr. at ASquare Mechanical. A great Christian man, Ruben served as the Sunday School Superintendent of Lighthouse Christian Discipleship Center and also as the Commander of the Royal Ranger Ministry.
Ruben was greatly loved and will be profoundly missed by all those whose lives he touched.
Ruben was preceded in death by his father, Ricardo Alvarado Sr. and two brothers: Juan and Ricardo Alvarado Jr.
Left behind to eternally treasure their memories of him is his wife of 38 years, Elida B. Alvarado, his mother, Josefa G. Alvarado his children: Esmeralda Noe Garza, Leticia Mauricio Rivera, Enedelia Pedro Jr. Coronado, Ruben Sonia Alvarado Jr., Ruby Lee Nathan Huerta, and Elida Alvarado 13 grandchildren plus one on the way: Ennie Lee Randy Vojvoda, Mauricio Adriana Rivera, Gilbert Rivera, Eliset Garza, Robby Rivera, Esmeralda Garza, Yosalin Rivera, Kristen Alvarado, Ruben Alvarado III, Elaine Coronado, Justen Alvarado, Pedro Luis Coronado III, Angel Rafael Huerta, Elian Gerardo Alvarado and 4 greatgrandchildren:. Noe Anthony Garza, Mauricio Rivera III, Isaac Rivera, and Ezekiel Garza. He will also be missed by his sisters and brothers: Aurora Carlos Gonzalez, Rebecca Rosendo Cortez, Rafaela Alvarado, Oscar Carmen Alvarado, Rosie Lucindo Gutierrez, Ofilia Lopez, and Joe Alvarado and numerous nieces, nephews, and other extended family members.
Visitation will begin at 11 a.m. on Friday, September 30, 2011 and continue through 9 p.m. in the East Chapel at DarlingMouser Funeral Home. A prayer service will be held at 6 p.m. this evening at DarlingMouser. The funeral service will be at 11 a.m. on Saturday, October 1, 2011 in the East Chapel at DarlingMouser. Interment will follow at Rose Lawn Memorial Gardens. The American Legion Post 43 Funeral Honor Guard under the direction of Commander Raul Leal will be providing military honors at the graveside.
