Sammy Franklin Snodgrass

BROWNSVILLE, TX. - Sammy Franklin Snodgrass entered into the glory of his eternal life on Friday, the 5th of July 2024 at Valley Regional Medical Center in Brownsville. He was eighty-one years of age. He was born in Brunswick, Georgia on October 10, 1942.

Sammy was a force in the shrimping industry and was known by all as a smart, fair and generous man who loved his family and friends.

Sammy loved his four-legged friends, reading, going to the movies, watching the business channel, and his daily swim in the pool and trip to the office. 

His death will be mourned by countless family members, friends, and business acquaintances. Like King Leonidas, he looked out for the welfare of his people and did not go down without a fight. He is forever in our hearts.

Preceding Sammy in death was his wife, Ellen; his step-children, Cary and Jeff; his mother and father, Myrtle and Samuel; his brothers, Lamar, Jerry and Michael; his precious son, Jack; and his beloved granddaughter, Brooke.

He is survived by his best friend, Judy; his daughters, Christi and Cecilia; his step-son, Steve; his brother, Donald; his grandchildren, Taylor, Tara, and Michael Shane; and numerous great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.

Visiting hours will be held on Saturday, the 13th of July 2024 between the hours of two o'clock and four o'clock in the afternoon, with a Celebration of Life service to begin at three o'clock Saturday afternoon within the East Chapel of Darling-Mouser Funeral Home. 

The family will gather for a private inurnment service at Buena Vista Burial Park, where Sammy will be laid to rest beside his parents in the family plot.
