Sister Adrian Clare Wolfe, 78, a Sister of the Incarnate Word and Blessed Sacrament, died peacefully at Incarnate Word Convent in Brownsville, Texas on April 23, 2009.
Sister Adrian Clare Elizabeth Jane Wolfe, born on June 3, 1930, in New Orleans, Louisiana, was the daughter of the late Elton Joseph Wolfe and Dora Brooks Wolfe. She graduated from Incarnate Word Academy in Corpus Christi, and entered Incarnate Word Convent on September 29, 1948. Sister made her first profession of vows April 15, 1950, and professed perpetual vows April 18, 1953. Sister Adrian Clare received her bachelors degree from Incarnate Word College, San Antonio and her masters degree from Saint Louis University, St. Louis, Missouri. She received a Catholic Choirmasters Certificate from the Gregorian Institute of America.
Sister Adrian Clare taught at St. Patrick School, Corpus Christi, where she also served as principal. She taught at Sacred Heart School, Sinton; at Incarnate Word Academy and Christopher College in Corpus Christi. She held various positions in the Congregation of the Incarnate Word and Blessed Sacrament: Councilor, Director of Formation, and Council representative to various commissions. For a time, Sister was representative to the Pastoral Commission for the Diocese of Corpus Christi.
In the Diocese of Brownsville, Sister Adrian Clare taught at Villa Maria High School, where she also served as principal. Sister served as Advocate and Director of the Marriage Tribunal, Vicar for Religious, and president of the Council of Religious. Sister also served as Chairman of Region12 of the National Sisters Vocation Conference. She was commissioned as Extraordinary Minister of the Eucharist and was active in literacy training. Even after her retirement, she helped seminarians and priests of the Brownsville Diocese with language tutoring in preparation for homilies and liturgies, and offered ministry training for the laity.
At the time of her death, Sister Adrian Clare, retired from active ministry, resided at Incarnate Word Convent in Brownsville. She was preceded in death by her father, Elton J. Wolfe, and her mother, Dora B. Wolfe. Surviving her are two cousins, Frances H. Roddy of Shreveport, Louisiana, and Patricia Davis of Magnolia, Arkansas.
