Don Roberto Garduo, 93, our beloved father, grandfather, uncle, and friend entered into the glory of his eternal life on Saturday, March 20, 2010 at valley Baptist Medical CenterBrownsville surrounded by his loving family.
Mr. Garduo was born in Toluca, Mexico. He came to the MatamorosBrownsville area when he married his wife Ninfa Saenz more than 60 years ago.
Don Roberto was a decent, honorable, and hardworking man. He was a very good son, brother, and father, he was devoted to his wife and family. He was quite athletic and loved playing tennis. He participated in many championships and came away with quite a few trophies in the Matamoros and Brownsville area.
He was a member of the Knights of Columbus in Matamoros and was able to attain the rank of Grand Knight. He was also a member of Rotary International in Matamoros where he served as president. He was very proud of the fact that during his tenure he founded a school for the DeafMute in Matamoros.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Ninfa Saenz de Garduo his oldest son, Luis Roberto Garduo his parents and three sisters.
Left behind to eternally treasure their memories of him are his children: Jorge Luis Sara Alicia, Luis Eduardo Dora Lopez, Jose Luis Eva Leticia, Maria Guadalupe Lupe Chipper Zamora, Luis Arturo Margarita, and Luis Gerardo Elizabeth Garduo his daughterinlaw, Elodia Garduo his goddaughter, Monserrat Estrada 16 grandchildren, 3 greatgrandchildren, and numerous nieces, nephews, and other family members.
Visitation will begin at 10 a.m. today, Sunday, March 21, 2010 and continue through 9 p.m. with the recitation of the holy rosary at 7 p.m. Sunday evening in the West Chapel of DarlingMouser. The Mass of Christian Resurrection will be at 10 a.m. on Monday, March 22, 2010 at St. Marys Catholic Church, 1914 Barnard Rd., Brownsville. All services will conclude at the church and in accordance with Don Robertos wishes cremation will follow. The entombment of his cremains will take place at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, March 23, 2010 at Buena Vista Burial Park. Family members are honored to be serving as Don Robertos pallbearers.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial gifts in Don Roberts name be made to St. Jude Childrens Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 381051942.
