Susana Ramirez Zavala

Susana Ramirez Zavala, 75, beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother entered into eternal rest on Thursday, June 11, 2009 in Houston, Texas surrounded by her loving family.

A native of Mexico, Mrs. Zavala had been a resident of Houston for almost 40 years. She was an accomplished seamstress and worked for 33 years managing Custom Drapery Blinds in downtown Houston. She was also an exceptional cook and loved nothing more than cooking for her family. She was a very giving person and helped countless friends and family throughout her life. She will be dearly missed by all those fortunate to have known her.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Victorio Ramirez and Estella Castellao Ramirez; her husband Elpidio D. Zavala; and a sister, Ermelinda Castellao.

Left behind to eternally treasure her memory are her children: Marta E. Diaz; Armando Diaz, wife Silvia; Elpidio Zavala Jr., wife Mary; Sandra Dixon, husband Randall; and Rebecca S. DaPron, husband Adam and their two children Joseph A. Harris and Meagan R. DaPron whom she lived with and who helped to care for her during her illness. Mrs. Zavala had a total of 19 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren. She will also be missed by her brothers, sisters, nieces, nephews, and other extended family members.

Visitation will begin at 5 p.m. on Sunday, June 14, 2009 and continue through 9 p.m. with the recitation of the holy rosary at 7 p.m. Sunday evening in the East Chapel of Darling-Mouser Funeral Home. The funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Monday, June 15, 2009 in the East Chapel of Darling-Mouser Funeral Home. Committal services will follow to San Pedro Cemetery.
