BROWNSVILLE, TX. - Teresa "Terry" Monterrubio Zepeda entered into eternal rest on Monday, the 12th of August 2024 at Valley Regional Medical Center with her daughter by her side. She was 75 years of age.

Terry was born in Mexico on November 24, 1948, daughter of the late Ignacio Monterrubio and Mary Helen Acres. She attended Sacred Heart School and Villa Maria High School, and went on to obtain her bachelor's degree in education from The University of Texas at Brownsville. She worked in education until her retirement. A devout Catholic, Terry was an avid parishioner at Holy Family Catholic Church where she served as a CCE teacher and a member of the Divine Mercy chapter. Her favorite pastimes included playing bingo and loteria, attending daycare, solving puzzles, and watching old movies. Terry had a bubbly personality and was always willing to help others. She loved teaching her children and was always very involved in her community.

Preceding Terry in death are her husband, Raul T. Zepeda; her daughter, Roseanne Zepeda; her parents, Ignacio and Mary Helen Monterrubio; her maternal grandparents, Lorenza Cruz Acres and George P. Acres, Sr.; her grandaunt, Rosa C. Taylor; and her siblings Richard Monterrubio, George Monterrubio, and Mary Helen Monterrubio.

Survivors include her daughter, Rosemary Zepeda; her siblings Lawrence Monterrubio (Socorro), Thomas Monterrubio (Mary), Rose Mary Cuevas (Fausto), Esther Gaytan (Felipe), and Carmen Rosenbaum (Baltazar); her beloved Chihuahua, Toby; and extended family members.

Visiting hours will be held on Thursday, the 15th of August 2024 between the hours of five o’clock in the afternoon and nine o'clock at night, with the recitation of the holy rosary to begin at seven o'clock Thursday evening within the East Chapel of Darling-Mouser Funeral Home.

The Funeral Mass will be celebrated at nine o'clock in the morning on Friday, the 16th of August 2024 at Holy Family Catholic Church, 2405 E. Tyler Street, Brownsville. Interment will then follow, via an escorted procession, at Buena Vista Burial Park, 5 McDavitt Boulevard, Brownsville.
