Victoriano Huerta

Victoriano Huerta, 95, entered into the glory of his eternal life on Monday, February 13, 2017, at Valley Baptist Medical Center--Brownsville.

Victoriano was a hardworking and devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He retired from a long career as a cabinetmaker with Gloor Lumber & Co. After his retirement, he continued his love of fine woodworking by constructing beautiful cabinets for family and various Brownsville clients, and until a few years ago, you could still find him behind his band saw crafting items that he would give to his family and friends.

Victoriano was born in 1921 in San Benito, but lived most of his life in Brownsville. He was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church, where he and his wife renewed their wedding vows on their 50th wedding anniversary in August of 2000.

His loving wife, Ramona Huerta, his parents, and his siblings precede him in death.

Left to mourn his passing are his five children: Jesus V. Huerta, Juan R. (Yvette) Huerta, Socorro (James) Houghtaling, Martha (Ray) Martinez, and Dr. Emilia (Robert) Guerra; his grandchildren: Jessica Huerta (Terrence Ramirez), Erika (Ed) Williamson, Daniel Huerta, Victoria Huerta, Brianna Huerta, Claudia (Tony+) Soto, LaVonne (Fernando) Reyes, J.R. Huerta Jr., Veronica r. (David Berardelli) Huerta, Mark A. Huerta, Richard M. (Julie) Huerta, James e. (Rosy) Houghtaling III, Philip R. Martinez, Anthony J. Guerra, and David A. (Cynthia) Guerra; his 14 great-grandchildren and 2 great-greatgrandchildren along with his loyal and loving companion, Chulo, his Chihuahua dog. He will also be missed by his numerous nieces, nephews and other extended family members.

Visitation will begin at 2:00 p.m. and continue through 9:00 p.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 15, 2017, in the East Chapel at Darling-Mouser Funeral Home with the recitation of the Holy Rosary scheduled for 7:00 p.m. Wednesday evening at Darling-Mouser. Visitation will resume at 12 Noon on Thursday, Feb. 16, 2017 with the funeral Mass scheduled for 2:00 p.m. Thursday, afternoon at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, 555 W. St. Francis St. Entombment services will follow in the Mausoleum at Buena Vista Burial Park.

Victoriano's grandsons are honored to be serving as his pallbearers.
