Victoriano Ortega, 91, of Brownsville, entered into eternal rest at Valley Regional Medical Center on Friday, June 30, 2017. He was a lifetime resident of Brownsville.
Mr. Ortega's favorite pasttimes were watching old Westerns and Action packed movies as well as going fishing and camping.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Clemente and Felipa Ortega; a daughter, Maria de Jesus Duran and her husband Gilberto Duran; a son-in-law, Delfino Flores; and his siblings, Consuelo Palacios, Hortencia Gonzalez and Angel Piña.
Left to eternally treasure their memories of Mr. Ortega are his loving and devoted wife of 68 years, Maria Cantu Ortega; his daughters, Oralia Ortega Flores and Carmelita Ortega Alvear; his son, Victor Ortega Castillo; 11 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and 2 sons-in-law, Delfino Gonzales Avalos and Eusebio Alvear.
Visitation will be from 1:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. Sunday, July 2, 2017 with the recitation of the holy rosary at 7:00 p.m. in the East Chapel at Darling-Mouser Funeral Home.
Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 3:00 p.m. Monday, July 3, 2017 in the Immaculate Conception Cathedral, 1218 E. Jefferson St., Brownsville with interment to follow at Buena Vista Burial Park.
Honored to be serving as Mr. Ortega's pallbearers are Delfino Gonzales Avalos; Victor O. Castillo; Eusebio Alvear; Gilberto Duran; Delfino Flores, Jr.; Eduardo Alvear; Devin Murphy and Victor Castillo, Jr.
