William Marshall Pohl, passed away after a lengthy illness in Corpus Christi, Texas on June 19, 2011 at 2:00 A.M. Marshall Pohl was born March 16, 1948. He was a longtime resident of Brownsville and Harlingen, Texas. Marshall was diagnosed with Downs Syndrome at an early age. He lived with his parents in Brownsville until the age of 25, at which time he became a resident of Rio Grande State Center in Harlingen for almost 35 years. Later, Marshall was moved to Corpus Christi State School to take advantage of their medical facilities for aging MR populations. Marshall was known for his constant good spirits, his independence, and his work ethic. He was a joy and a blessing to those who knew him. Marshall competed in the Special Olympics numerous times as a young man and had many medals and memories to show for it. He will be sorely missed by friends and family.
William Marshall Pohl is survived by his brother, Lee Wayne Pohl. of Eureka Springs, AR. He was preceded in death by his sister, Fay Marie Pohl Harr, and his parents, Lee William Pohl and Dicy Marie Pohl. Marshall is also survived by his 6 nephews and nieces along with their children. A memorial service for William Marshall Pohl will be held at the Darling Mouser Funeral Home of Brownsville at 10:00 A.M. on Wednesday, June 22, 2011, followed by interment at Rose Lawn Memorial Gardens in Brownsville, Texas.
