Ygnacia P. Casas, 88, beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and sister entered into the glory of her eternal life on Thursday, October 18, 2007 at Valley Baptist Medical Center-Brownsville with her loving family at her side.

Ygnacia was born in Matamoros, Tamaulipas, Mexico on July 31, 1919. She had been a resident of Brownsville for over 60 years. Ygnacia was a devout Catholic and a woman of deep faith. She was a faithful parishioner of St. Joseph Catholic Church. She enjoyed going to play Bingo and attending the annual Church Kermes. She was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She was dearly loved by her family and she will be missed greatly by those whose lives she touched. Her memory and example will live on in the lives of her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.

Ygnacia was preceded in death by her husband Federico M. Casas; her parents, Romulo and Maria de Jesus Pea; her sisters, Guadalupe Gomez, Genoveva Rodriguez, Josefa Serna, and Julia Pea; and 1brother, Jesus Pea.

Her memory will be eternally cherished by those she has left behind: her children, Isabel Adalberto Cardenas, Federico Jr. Rosalva Casas, Hector Yolanda Casas, Jesus Carmen Casas, and Yolanda Lauro Caballero; 20 grandchildren, 46 great-grandchildren; her 3 brothers, Armando, Antonio, and Romulo Pea, Jr., and numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation and a rosary service were held yesterday at Darling-Mouser Funeral Home. Visitation will resume at 10 a.m. Saturday, October 20, 2007 and continue through 1:30 p.m. The Mass of Resurrection will be at 2 p.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church Saturday Oct. 20, 2007. Interment will follow at Buena Vista Burial Park.
