Yolanda A. Loya, 66, entered into eternal rest on Thursday, Oct. 20, 2016, in Houston, Texas at St. Luke's Medical Center with her two sons at her side.
Yolanda was a native and lifetime resident of Brownsville. Yolanda was a faithful and dedicated employee with the Texas Dept. of Human Services for over 25 years. Yolanda was deeply loved and will be profoundly missed not only by her family and friends but by all those fortunate to have known her.
Yolanda was preceded in death by her husband, Juan Antonio Loya; and her parents, Maria del Refugio and Genaro Abrego.
Yolanda is survived by her two sons: Gene & Johnny (Mari) Loya; her granddaughter, Amber Marie Loya; her siblings: Delia (Beto) Arteaga, Rosie (Pablo) Marquez, and Tony Abrego; her mother-in-law, Ernestina Loya; along with numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and other extended family members.
In accordance with Yolanda's wishes, she has been cremated and there will not be any services held. A private scattering of her cremated remains will take place at a later date.
Honorary pallbearers will be her sons: Gene and Johnny Loya; her sisters, Delia and Rosie; her brother, Tony; and her sisters-in-law, Lupita Cortez and Alma Loya.
