BROWNSVILLE, TX. – Yolanda Musel (Zavaleta), 78, of Brownsville, entered into eternal rest on Saturday, the 11th of December 2021, at Valley Regional Medical Center surrounded by her loving family.
Yolanda was a devout Catholic and avid parishioner of St. Mary, Mother of the Church. She would recite the rosary faithfully and would attend mass every Sunday. Her core being was centered around religion, family, love, and forgiveness. She was all heart and had a kind, gentle and caring personality. She was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and a friend to many. The memories and special bonds that she shared with her family meant most of all to her. She enjoyed listening to music, drawing, and painting. She loved arts and crafts. Yolanda always took things in strides and did whatever she could to help others in need. Yolanda was deeply loved and will be profoundly missed not only by her family and friends but by all those fortunate enough to have known her.
Yolanda was preceded in death by her husband of forty-eight years, James Lee Musel, Sr.; her parents, Raul, Sr. and Delfina C. Zavaleta; brother, Raul Zavaleta, Jr.; and brother-in-law, Robert Ford.
Survivors include her children, James L. Musel, Jr. (Diana) Eileen Gregory (Stephen); three grandchildren Matthew Musel, Madeleine Gregory, and Joshua Gregory; sister, Sylvia Ford; niece, Jo Ellen Ford (Russell); sister-in-law, Terri Zavaleta; in addition to numerous grand-nieces, grand-nephews, and other extended family members and friends.
Visiting hours will be held on Saturday, the 18th of December 2021 between the hours of ten o’clock in the morning and one o’clock in the afternoon, with the recitation of the holy rosary to begin at eleven o’clock within the East Chapel of Darling-Mouser Funeral Home. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated at two o’clock in the afternoon at St. Mary, Mother of the Church, 1914 Barnard Road, Brownsville. Cremation will follow the mass.
Inurnment and committal services will be held at one o’clock in the afternoon on Monday, the 20th of December 2021 at Buena Vista Burial Park, 5 McDavitt Boulevard, Brownsville.
