Yolanda Yoli Zamora, 54, beloved mother, grandmother, daughter, sister, and aunt entered into the glory of her eternal life on Friday, June 20, 2008 at Doctors Hospital at Renaissance in Edinburg, Texas.
Yolanda, a native of Brownsville, was born on April 25, 1954 the first child of Alfredo and Ana Zamora. She graduated from Brownsville High School in 1972, as the president of her senior class. Yolanda was quite an athlete during her high school years. She excelled in several track events and was able to qualify for the State Track Meet in 1970, 71, 72, when she came in 2nd place in both the 60 and 100 yard dash.
Yolanda was preceded in death by her father, Alfredo C. Zamora in Sept. 2007; her maternal grandparents, Jose L. and Lillie Vasquez; and her paternal grandparents, Adolfo Zamora and Juanita C. Mata.
She leaves behind to eternally treasure her memory her daughter, Anissa Kristine Jimmy Arizmendez; her son, Christopher Alan Christina Bazaldu; her grandson: Ricky Rodriguez; her mother, Ana M. Zamora; 2 sisters: Cindy and her husband David De La Cruz and Patsy Zamora; 2 nephews and 1 niece, her uncles, aunts, cousins, and many friends.
Visitation will begin at 3 p.m. and continue through 9 p.m. with the recitation of the holy rosary at 7 p.m. on Sunday, June 22, 2008. The Mass of Christian Resurrection will be at 3 p.m. on Monday, June 23, 2008 at St. Mary Mother of the Church Catholic Church, 1944 Barnard Road. All services will conclude after the Mass and as per Yolandas wishes she will be cremated. Christopher A. Bazaldu, Jimmy Arismendez, John David Gunnoe, Eddie Lozano, David De La Cruz, and Alfonso De La Cruz III are honored to be serving as Yoli's pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Sam Pea and Alfonso Zamora.
In lieu of flowers, Yolandas family is requesting contributions to her children to help with funeral expenses.
